Follow on Google News | Oil and gas executives celebrate North Africa’s student achievements at Awards of ExcellenceThe universities of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt are currently reviewing recent works and research papers by their most talented students. Further to an independent judging panel of an internationally renowned expert and an NOC representative, winners from each country will be invited to travel to the award ceremony in Algiers. At which time, the students will be given the opportunity to present their research to over 400 top industry executives and meet with companies’ management to discuss how the industry can help to develop local talent. Recognised and supported by North Africa’s top energy companies and associations, including ETAP, ENIT, LGGIP and Houari Boumediene University, the newly formed ESEP (The Energy Exchange Student Engagement Programme) has been created to recognise and celebrate the future leaders in the oil and gas sector. As part of this initiative, four integral partnerships will play a significant part in fostering local talent development amongst students studying in geophysics and petroleum engineering. The Managing Director of The Energy Exchange and ESEP, David White, commented: “Developing local content, implementing social projects and empowering young talent to become the leaders of tomorrow, are key objectives for both the oil and gas industry and governments in North Africa. It is a crucial step to bringing positive change to the energy market outlook of every country. “Investment in developing and retaining local talent is strongly required across North Africa. ESEP is just a first step. Long term we need to build local capability by building programmes, developing attractive career paths and entrepreneurial opportunities.” End
