Countable Launches “Congressional Compatibility Quiz”With Election Day Looming, and Many Voters Undecided, Fun New Quiz Compares Voters’ Preferences On Key Bills With Their Congressperson’s Votes
By: Countable The quiz can be found here: https://www.countable.us/ The “Congressional Compatibility Quiz” poses users with 15 real pieces of legislation, in various issue areas, and asks them to vote “Yea” or “Nay” on the bills. It then compares those votes to how the user’s Congressperson actually voted, to determine what percent “match” the user and Representative are. Each bill is summarized, using Countable’s easy-to-understand, non-partisan summary, and users are given the pro and con arguments for each bill. What they aren’t given – until the end of the quiz – is how their Representative voted on each bill. According to Bart Myers, CEO of Countable, making lawmaking and policy views more accessible, and sometimes even light-hearted, is one key to bringing Americans back into the process. “This quiz continues Countable’s mission of turning policy-making and Congressional accountability into something easy and fun, to bring more people into the process,” said Myers. “We’re expecting yet another low-turnout midterm election. Why? Because in non-presidential years, too many voters feel too alienated from their Congressional representation to feel confident or motivated enough to vote. Part of Countable’s mission is to change that, and the Congressional Compatibility Quiz is one more step towards that goal.” Countable (www.countable.us) was launched in May 2014, to give constituents an easy and straightforward way to understand proposed laws, and keep track of, and directly influence, their lawmakers.
