ATLANTA - Oct. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- National Educators to Stop Trafficking (NEST) is a cutting-edge website that allows educators and youth leaders to browse human trafficking prevention curriculum and additional resources that can be used in their classrooms. The curriculum chart has over twenty curriculums for grades 1st through 12th and twenty-five additional resources that are appropriate for school assemblies, teacher on-going education, community training forums, and more. The site also contains a disclosure protocol and other sources to assist educators in the event that a student realizes she (or he) is a victim of human trafficking.

As educators begin to review the website for appropriate curriculum, we want to make available a “meet up” location for them to ask questions of the curriculum providers, and share with other educators what may and may not be effective. The meet-up will last approximately 1 hour and will be conducted through a conference call platform to begin with. This will be a space to hear about: 1) current topics of human trafficking from experts; 2) best practices in prevention education, along with a host of other topics that will be helpful to educators, and; 3) attendees will hear from a curriculum provider of the month who will be available for questions about their curriculum. The monthly call agenda will be posted on the NEST website and create a space for educators to sign up to participate in the calls. The goal is to keep calls fresh and different in order to keep providing new information each month.

Given the different time zones across the country NEST has decided to hold a quarterly call for each of the 3 primary regions in the country. Please check your time zone and mark your calendars so you can participate in the meet-up calls. Each call will be at 4:00 PM on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and will last approximately 60 minutes. All educators and youth leaders if available are more than welcome to join the call, even if you are in another time zone.

Those in the Eastern Time Zone will have their first meet-up on November 11, 2014. The call will be moderated by NEST Coordinator Yvonne Williams. Topics will be: 1) How to Utilize the Curriculum and Additional Resources Charts; 2) a review of the Fair Girls curriculum along with Q & A will be conducted by a representative of the organization; 3) a survivor of human trafficking that was trafficked when she was in high school.

You may review a schedule of calls for meet ups posted through 2015 on the NEST website: www.NESTeducators.org/monthly-meet-up/
