On International Men’s Day, US Author Partners with Men Beyond 50 to Fight Male Suicide in the UK

LONDON - Nov. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- On International Men’s Day, Josh Rivedal; a New York City author, suicide prevention specialist, and international public speaker, is teaming up with Dr. Max Mackay-James and his charities Men Beyond 50 and Conscious Ageing Trust to fight male suicide.

Josh and Dr. Max will be taking questions and discussing male suicide, depression, mental health, and how and where to get help via a live Google Chat on 19 November at 12p GMT. Find the event here: gospeljosh.com/unitedkingdommensday (http://www.gospeljosh.com/unitedkingdommensday). On the same day, Josh will be releasing a second edition of his memoir, The Gospel According to Josh: A 28-Year Gentile Bar Mitzvah, to benefit the Conscious Ageing Trust. Twenty-five percent of proceeds from this edition with a foreword written by Dr. Max will be donated to the Conscious Ageing Trust. British comedian Rory Bremner said about the book, “Life doesn't come with a user guide. Instead, we need sane, funny, insightful books like this.”

Dr. Max’s story begins with the loss of his brother Ferrier to suicide in the late 1970s. “My story really begins in the UK,” says author Rivedal. “My grandfather served in the Royal Air Force as a tail gunner on bombers during World War II. He got shot down over Hamburg, Germany, and in the late 1960s he died by suicide because of his experiences in the war. My own father, Haakon’s son took his life in 2009 at the age of sixty. I nearly took my life in 2011 after a bout with depression. I appreciate what Dr. Max, Conscious Ageing Trust, and Men Beyond 50 are doing for men in the UK by providing resources of support that my father and grandfather didn’t know to look for.”

The Gospel According to Josh… is Rivedal’s memoir—a comedic and poignant coming of age story based in part on his acclaimed one-man show that has toured across North America and Europe.

Rivedal will be doing promotional events, book signings, and keynote speeches on suicide prevention over the next several months across the US, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom—specifically at The University of Essex on 27 November. He’s been touring and speaking on mental health and suicide prevention since 2011. The Gospel According to Josh: A 28-Year Gentile Bar Mitzvah Conscious Ageing Edition (http://www.amazon.com/The-Gospel-According-Josh-28-Year/d...) is available at Amazon, Kindle, and Gardners Books, with the ISBN number 978-0-9860338-5-8

Men Beyond 50 is a major charity project run by the Conscious Aging Trust. Its mission is to help older men avoid mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and loneliness by creating opportunities for older men to get together to share, learn and grow. They aim to help older men from all walks of life to experience positive changes in their lives.
