NEW YORK - Oct. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- The practice of smoking tobacco products such as cigarettes and cigars, while once commonplace, has become somewhat limited due to increasing public health concerns. In the past, smoking indoors was rather common, particularly in restaurants, bars, clubs, and similar establishments. However, due to increasing bans on smoking, smokers frequently congregate in designated official and unofficial smoking areas around these types of establishments.

Smoking areas are designed in order to isolate harmful smoke produced by combusting tobacco to a specific area. The smoking areas are often characterized by public ashtrays that serve as receptacles for disposing of cigarette butts. One of the greatest inconveniences that a smoker may face is the lack of access to a lighter, matches, or other personal lighting device. Lighting devices are easily misplaced due to their small size. Additionally, lighting devices may be confiscated or banned due to security reasons. Vehicles often feature an integrated electrically heated cigarette lighter port that may be utilized to combust tobacco products. However, these vehicle based 12 Volt cigarette lighters are currently not as common as in the past. Present vehicles often feature 12 Volt ports that are not designed for cigarette lighting and only serve to provide electrical power to portable devices and accessories. The present invention seeks to address the aforementioned issues relating to the frequent lack of access to personal lighting devices.

The present invention is a lighter station that may be utilized in order to combust a smoking implement in the absence of a personal lighting device. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the lighter station is designed to activate only after accepting payment submitted by the user. The lighter station comprises a housing enclosure that may be mounted or installed onto a surface such as a wall or the ground. The housing enclosure is tamperproof as well as weatherproof for outdoor use. The housing enclosure comprises one or more internal lighting devices such as heating coils that are electrically heated as well as one or more corresponding lighter ports that are accessible from the exterior of the lighter station housing enclosure. Each internal heating coil is only activated upon acceptance of payment from the user. In order to prevent theft, each internal lighting device of the lighter station comprises a security device. The lighter station further comprises a currency input slot for coin currency. Additionally, the lighter station may further comprise a currency input slot for bill currency. Excess currency is returned to the user via a currency return slot. Lighter station information is provided to the user via an integrated display panel that is viewable from the exterior of the housing enclosure. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the display panel comprises a light-emitting diode (LED) display that provides the user with information such as instructions on how to utilize the lighter station, payment information, and lighter station status information. All electrical components of the lighter station are provided power from an external power source. In order to utilize the lighter station, the user is able to view the required payment information on the lighter station integrated display panel. The user may then submit payment by inserting coin and/or bill currency into the corresponding currency input slot(s). Any excess currency submitted is returned to the user via currency return slot. Upon satisfaction of the payment requirement set forth by the lighter station, electrical power is supplied to the internal lighting device(s). The user is able to pull out the corresponding lighter port in order to combust the smoking implement utilizing the heated lighting device. The lighting device remains heated for a sufficient time to allow proper combustion of the smoking implement.
