Thumbprint Cellars' Second Annual Leave Your Mark Awareness And Fundraising Campaign

HEALDSBURG, Calif. - Oct. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- ‘Leave Your Mark’ is thumbprint cellars’ twelve-week fundraising and awareness campaign for women and men’s health issues and Sonoma County charities. The campaign kicked off with October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, will continue during November with focus on the Movember Foundation and Redwood Empire Food Bank and culminate in December with focus on the Wounded Warriors Project.

“I leave my thumbprint on every bottle of wine I craft and I think it’s just as important we leave a mark on the community and its important causes,” said thumbprint cellars owner/winemaker Scott Lindstrom-Dake. The winery is passionate about supporting and strengthening their community calling itself, “a small winery with a big heart,” cultivating a ‘culture of caring’ internally and externally.  “We make donations all year long, but this year is our second ‘Leave Your Mark’ initiative focusing on a series of causes over the last twelve weeks of the year. October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month is a perfect cause to kick this off,” said Lindstrom-Dake. “Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer, which means a life has been changed forever in just about the same amount of time it takes to enjoy a taste of one wine.”

During the month of October thumbprint cellars will raise money and awareness for breast cancer research by selling ‘Save 2nd Base’ bracelets and collecting monetary donations, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research fund at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital Center. More information can be found on the winery’s website, thumbprintcellars.com.

The ‘Leave Your Mark’ campaign continues in November with ‘Movember,’ an international month of fundraising and awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.  “During the month of November men worldwide grow mustaches and use their facial hair as conversation starters to raise awareness and money,” said Lindstrom-Dake. “In addition to raising funds and awareness in the tasting room, thumbprint cellars’ has created a Movember team, ‘Team Thumbstache.’ To make a donation, or join Team Thumbstache visit the winery’s official Movember page at http://us.movember.com/team/1517061.

“Lately it seems the issue of men’s mental health is more important than ever to call attention to,” said Carla Jeffries, Director of Business Operations for thumbprint cellars.  “And so this year we wanted to do something really significant. Since thumbprint has been doing a monthly series of comedy evenings we decided to make the November show a fundraiser and are proud to present, ‘Laughing Matters,’ an evening of comedy on November 22nd.  We are taking the show out of the tasting room and moving it to the Raven Theater in Healdsburg with all proceeds donated to the Movember Foundation.” Doors open at 7pm for the signature event of thumbprint’s Movember campaign. It’s hosted by thumbprint cellars and local comedian and comedy promoter, Steve Ausburne of Steve Ausburne Productions. The event will feature talented Sonoma County and Bay Area comedians such as Nick Hoffman, Josh Argyle, Samantha Gilweit, Adam Pearlstein and many more.  General Admission tickets for ‘Laughing Matters’ are $25 plus processing fees. VIP Tickets are $55 plus processing fees and include premium seating, a wine and cheese reception before the show at thumbprint cellars’ downtown Healdsburg tasting room and a meet and greet at the Raven Theater with the comedians after the show. The ‘Leave your Mark’ campaign continues in November with a collaborative wine tasting and inter-winery Chili for Charity cook-off to benefit the Redwood Empire Food bank on November 15th from 11am-4pm. The event is in partnership with the Wine Walk Healdsburg Alliance, a collective of over thirty downtown Healdsburg wineries. Pre-sale event tickets are available through November 3rd for $15 plus a small processing fee. After November 3rd tickets will be $25 plus processing fees. Day of event tickets can be purchased at any participating winery. More details and the link to purchase tickets can be found at winewalkhealdsburg.com.

During the month of December thumbprint cellars,’ ‘Leave your Mark’ campaign will raise money and awareness for the ‘Wounded Warrior Project’ by selling ‘Wounded Warrior Project’ bracelets and collecting monetary donations. On December 13th the winery will host a Winter Wine Release event with live music, great food and wine tasting. The event takes place at thumbprint cellars’ winery from 5pm to 8pm. The Winter Wine Release event is complimentary for thumbprint cellars’ wine club members. Guests of club members are welcome to attend the event for $15 per person with proceeds donated to the ‘Wounded Warrior Project.’ More information can be found on the winery’s website, thumbprintcellars.com.

Thumbprint cellars ‘Leave Your Mark’ campaign will create a ‘Canvas of Caring’ designed by visitors leaving their colorful thumbprints on a special canvas in the tasting room through the end of the year. “We want those who join us in supporting these causes to leave their mark too,” said Lindstrom-Dake. The mural will then serve as an art exhibit at the winery and as a testament to the commitment of thumbprint cellars and their guests to making a positive impact in their community.
