OMAHA, Neb. - Oct. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Artist and writer, Kobina Wright, will be among the presenters at X13: The 13th Annual Malcolm X Conference and Festival. The four day event will be sponsored by the Black Studies Department at the University of Nebraska, Omaha and Wright will discuss her work and the creation of the Hodaoa-Anibo language.  X13 will be held November 3rd through the 6th.

Ħodaoa-Anibo: pronounced – sha.DOE.ah  ah.NEE.bo is an evolving language created by Wright, as a tribute to Africans who were forced, starting in 1619, to give up their native tongues once captured and enslaved in the New World.  It is inspired by the lost knowledge and family records that would point to the specific origins of most Black Americans.  It was also a dedication to the subsequent culture that evolved from the oppression experienced by American slaves and their posterity.

Wright will be among other creative and innovative speaker invited to speak at the conference such as Timothy King, founder, president and CEO of Urban Prep Academies.  Also slated to speak is Margerita Anderson, author of Our Black Year.  Several other relevant and inspiring events are scheduled, including film screenings; dance performances and drumming.

Kobina Wright is an American writer, artist, actress and language creator.  She is known primarily for her poetry and abstract art which is constantly evolving.  Wright is the creator of the Hodaoa-Anibo language which she began to develop in 2003 and self-published “The Hodaoa-Anibo Dictionary.”  She is also known as the co-creator of nuler poetry which she helped to develop with friend and poet, Lisa Bartley Lacey.

Wright will speak X13 Conference on November 6th from 6-8pm at Love’s Jazz and Art, located at 2510 North 24th Street in the Near North Omaha neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska.
