Follow on Google News | Brainstorming Session - October 31st - OaklandCommunication managers to meet and discuss language issues that machine translation cannot resolve, and celebrate minority firm's 32nd anniversary
International Contact, Inc., is sponsoring a Brainstorming Session to discuss these issues on October 31st, 2014. The multilanguage communications agency in Oakland, has provided language services to Fortune 500 companies and governmental agencies for 32 years. The sold-out event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at Oakland City Hall, thanks to the support of Councilman Noel Gallo. This forum will bring together language managers from the public and private sectors, translators, interpreters and other stakeholders to discuss successful strategies for addressing the challenging issues in our multilingual communities. There is a great deal of interest to learn about best practices in providing true intercultural communication that reaches the audience for which it is intended. Organizers hope that the salient issues of the day will be isolated through practical discussion about issues such as whether to use the formal or informal (eg: tĂș/usted in Spanish) or whether to typeset in traditional or simplified Chinese when addressing their clients. Success stories and blunders will also be shared so that action items can be identified for follow through at a more comprehensive symposium, possibly in the Spring of 2015. For more information on the content/participants in the Brainstorming Session, please contact Thomas Rostaing - 510-836-1180 End
