Lacombe Resident Fulfills “Bucket List” Item for Deceased Husband

Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- LACOMBE, ALBERTA. – Jenny Nickel, a Lacombe resident, recently published her husband’s book, A Day in the Life of Jesus, which was a “bucket list” item he was unable to fulfill before he passed away on August 4, 2011.

Seven months before his death, Pastor Dennis Nickel finished his book and made plans to publish it. However, with a busy schedule pastoring three churches, helping at the district church school, being active in the community, and battling cancer, he never fulfilled his dream. His wife and children decided to finish what he had started.

“Dennis had a great imagination, and when reading the Bible, he found it came to life for him if he imagined the events. He felt impressed that other people would be blessed if they imagined what the events in Jesus’ life may have been like. For his devotional time in the mornings, he would read the Gospel accounts and then write the story,” Mrs. Nickel said. “I hope that everyone who reads Dennis’ book will come away with a deeper love for God through visualizing how amazing it was that Jesus came and lived with us.”

A Day in the Life of Jesus is a daily devotional that takes readers on a chronological journey through the Gospels from the perspective of those who interacted with Jesus. Each day features a Bible reference and corresponding first-person account based on the accounts of the four Gospels.

Pastor Nickel graduated from Canadian University College in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in theology and Andrews University in 1983 with a master of divinity degree. During his career, he served as a pastor in the Alberta and British Columbia Conferences of Seventh-day Adventists in Canada and the Upper Columbia Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in the United States.

A Day in the Life of Jesus is published by TEACH Services, and is available through the publisher’s Web site (www.TEACHServices.com), Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or local bookstores by request.
