Prominent Local Executives Appointed to Susan G. Komen Orange County Board of Directors

Craig Glorioso and Dr. Karen Smith to Lead Breast Health Initiatives
 
COSTA MESA, Calif. - Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Susan G. Komen Orange County (http://www.komenoc.org/) has selected two breast cancer advocates, Craig Glorioso, of counsel of the real estate practice at Greenberg Traurig, LLP (http://www.gtlaw.com/) and Dr. Karen Smith, senior vice president and head of global medical affairs at Allergan Inc (http://www.allergan.com/index.htm)., to its board of directors.

“Komen Orange County’s board of directors encompasses esteemed individuals who guide the organization’s local resources and initiatives,” said Lisa Wolter, executive director of Komen Orange County. “Craig and Karen both have been touched by breast cancer in their lives and are deeply committed to the services provided to women and men in Orange County.”

As of counsel of an international law firm, Glorioso focuses his practice on real estate, financing and business transactions. He represents individuals, corporations, real estate funds and real estate investment trusts. Glorioso is also a committed member of the American and Orange County Bar Associations.

“After my wife Debbie was diagnosed with breast cancer, I researched all the amazing things Komen Orange County was doing to impact our community each day,” said Glorioso. “The decision to join the board was very easy since I wanted to get involved with an organization that was focusing its energies and resources locally, and Komen Orange County was the perfect fit.”

Dr. Smith, a global pharmaceutical, biotech and device executive, has been a longtime supporter of breast cancer research and helps individuals going through treatment. She holds advanced, post-graduate degrees in cardiology, business administration, law, molecular genetics and breast cancer. She was recently recognized by Orange County Business Journal with a 2014 Women in Business award.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to contribute to a cause that has been a part of my life personally and professionally for many years,” said Dr. Smith. “Until we find a cure, we need to diagnose and treat all women and I am deeply committed to support that – scientifically, corporately, financially and socially.”
