Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- – In an effort to assure that businesses across the state are fully prepared for their new obligations under the federal Affordable Care Act, the Michigan Business and Professional Association (http://michbusiness.org/) (MBPA) will hold a special Health Care Reform Conference from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 10 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center in Downtown Detroit.

“With the ACA Employer Shared Responsibility penalties beginning to take full effect in 2015, we want to provide an opportunity for business leaders to resolve any issues they may still have in understanding the law’s provisions,” said Jennifer Kluge, MBPA President and CEO. “We are bringing in the experts to share the latest information and answer questions.”

Kluge explained that the conference will feature:

Michigan Department of Community Health Director Nick Lyon who will discuss “Healthy Michigan Plan-Great Success for Michigan and Business”
National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) Regional Secretary Mike Embry who will focus on “Back to Business- Getting Ready for the ACA in 2015”
Governor’s Office Health Care Expert, Chris Priest who will share a message from Governor Snyder and provide insights about Michigan’s implementation of the law
A Meet the Experts Town Hall Panel Discussion that will include information from ACA and financial experts.

The conference is just the latest in a long list of MBPA educational efforts designed to assist Michigan businesses with issues around implementation of the ACA. MBPA has been working diligently since the law’s passage to educate its members by offering various seminars, webinars, informational tools and even a special health care reform app all bundled under its Health Care Reform Connect™ web banner that has been solely dedicated to federal healthcare reform. The newest service is provided by the MBPA’s Onsite Enrollment Team, which meets individually with employees to evaluate their eligibility requirements for the Healthy Michigan Plan (Medicaid). By allowing employees to opt out of traditional group coverage, employers save thousands of dollars annually in company health care premiums.

Advance, paid registration is required for the conference. Tickets are $100 for MBPA members and $125 for non-members. Attendees may register online at www.michbusiness.org or contact NaTasha at 888-277-6464.
