RUNCORN, U.K. - Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- HALTON MP Derek Twigg’s first constituency visit to Runcorn-based IT specialists d3t Ltd, to celebrate the £750,000 turnover company’s third birthday, constant growth and on-going expansion, turned into a bit of a walk on the wild side.

For after being introduced to d3t founders, commercial director Jamie Campbell and development director Stephen Powell and cutting the celebratory d3t birthday cake, the Labour MP was given a guided tour of the company’s HQ at the Heath Business and Technology Park.

And that tour included  a glimpse  of a unique historic stash of ancient books and documents, an insight into a new high-tech means of helping young drivers to find affordable insurance deals, a visit to an historic battle 700 years ago…..and a brief ‘trip to another world’.

After explaining that d3t was an acronym for designing, developing and delivering excellence in technology, Mr Campbell showed the MP a high-tech on-line collection of precious books and documents that they had created on behalf of the Yorkshire Museum Trust.

It was an example of how the very latest technology could be used to protect our history and heritage, he explained.

Mr Twigg then heard how d3t had provided the technical expertise behind the launch of an insurance company’s high-tech initiative to provide young drivers with affordable insurance using telematics technology to remotely monitor their driving standards.

Mr Powell then showed the MP images from the new high-tech Bannockburn battle game developed by d3t at the Bannockburn Visitor Centre, near Stirling to mark the 700th anniversary of the historic Scottish victory over the English.

Using state-of-the-art 3D technology, visitors can now take part in the medieval battle which saw Robert the Bruce’s greatly outnumbered Scots army defeat more than 15,000 battle-hardened warriors to claim victory over King Edward II.

Finally, the MP accepted an invitation to try out a virtual-reality head set which d3t is currently using as a platform to develop games for major clients.

After a five minute session, Mr Twigg removed the headset, smiled and said: “That was out of this world.”

Asked for his opinion on the d3t project he had seen, Mr Twigg said: “Fascinating!”

After the visit Mr Campbell, who heads up a team of eight highly qualified IT professionals plus admin staff and contractors, said: “We were delighted with Mr Twigg’s visit. From his reaction to what we showed him, I am convinced he was previously totally unaware of the vast range of services we provide for our clients around the world.”
