Follow on Google News | Palm Beach PlayMakers bring 4th installment of popular BOXer SHORTS series to Delray Beach PlayhouseThis fourth installment of BOXer SHORTS, the increasingly popular showcase of original one-acts, features six new plays written by Caster and Bruna, and performed by 10 actors from the South Florida theatre community: Michael Beecher, Kari Budyk, Michael DeGrotta, Jennifer Genco, Vicki Goulet, Christina Groom, Marcie Hall, J. Paul Heiner, Mark Hetelson, and John Zambito. The showcase features an assortment of comedy, drama, farce, and fantasy, with a collection of quirky characters, unique plot twists, and a new signature Caster-Bruna Flip-Side Play, so named because the two playwrights work in what Bruna calls ‘independent collaboration,’ Why BOXer SHORTS? “We open the event with an assortment of boxes stacked on the stage,” said Caster. “For each play that follows, our skilled stagehands fashion this collection into workable sets. The construction of these creations are events in themselves, leaving the audience speculating at their mad designs. The riddle is quickly solved as the actors take the stage and utilize the sets. A Bowling Alley? Sure. A Sidewalk Café? No problem. A Park? A Supermarket? Theatregoers can purchase tickets ($15 in advance, $18 at the door) to BOXer SHORTS 4 by calling the Delray Beach Playhouse Box Office at 561.272-1281 ext. 4. Ticket price includes talk-backs, which are held immediately after each performance. The producers recommend advance purchase of tickets as BOXer SHORTS 1, 2, and 3 were sold-out performances.
