Emterra Environmental Named Innovative Labour Solutions Award Nominee

BURLINGTON, Ontario - Oct. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Emterra Environmental is recognized across Canada for being an innovator in the waste management industry. It is clear, however, that this innovation extends profoundly throughout the organization. Emterra has been honoured for building culturally diverse teams reflective of the communities in which it operates.  Now, Emterra’s Surrey British Columbia team is being singled out for its dedication to providing meaningful job opportunities to adults with development disabilities.

Avia Employment Solutions is a partner of B.C. provincial government’s WorkBC program intended to help job seekers in various BC communities gain employment. Avia has nominated Emterra Environmental in the “Business over 10 Employees” category.

The criterion for nomination extends beyond hiring developmentally disabled adults. It seeks to recognize companies that place an emphasis on fostering an inclusive, supportive environment that provides modified skills training. Also, that the initiative demonstrates that these opportunities are translating into increased productivity and business growth.

The awards are being co-sponsored by the City of Surrey, Community Living BC, Milieu Employment Services, the Rotary Club of Surrey and the Surrey Board of Trade. Winners will be announced on October 15^th during the recognition event at the Eaglequest Golf Course in Surrey.
