McCarthy Awarded Office and Retail High-rise Project in Uptown Dallas

DALLAS - Oct. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., a Texas builder for 35 years, was recently awarded the construction contract for 1920 McKinney Ave. in Uptown Dallas. The 150,000-square-foot Class A office tower will include office space, parking and 8,500 square feet of ground floor retail and restaurant space. A groundbreaking event was held on Sept. 18 to commemorate the start of the project.

KDC selected McCarthy to build the 14-story office tower located on McKinney Avenue and Harwood Street, adjacent to Klyde Warren Park. The building will have direct access to downtown and Uptown Dallas. The project will seek Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design ® (LEED) certification for new construction through the United States Green Building Council.

The project includes parking for 470 cars, six levels of office space and main lobby and retail space on the ground floor. The building will provide multi-tenant office space, anchored by Invesco Real Estate, and will feature a restaurant at the ground floor level. The project also includes a site package that involves hardscape, planting with irrigation and a water feature.

KDC and McCarthy have a successful track record of working together including the completion of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Headquarters and Nortel Networks, both located in Richardson, Texas, and the Sally Beauty Company Service Center in Denton, Texas.

The construction of 1920 McKinney is set to complete in spring 2016.
