Tiphub hosts inaugural Diaspora Demo Pitch Competition

WASHINGTON - Oct. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Tiphub, the mentorship driven accelerator and business consultancy that develops and supports seed stage technology and social impact ventures within Africa and the African Diaspora today announced their first annual Diaspora Demo Day pitch competition. In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the social innovation competition will be hosted in conjunction with She Leads Africa and the African Technology Foundation on November 22, 2014 at 9:30 am in the World Bank’s Preston Auditorium in Washington, DC.

Diaspora Demo Day is a startup showcase that presents emerging high growth and high impact technology companies as well as  social enterprises focused on Africa and the African Diaspora. The 25 Startup participants will make 5 minute pitches to an audience of impact and angel investors, policy makers, fellow entrepreneurs, industry experts and an esteemed panel of judges. All participating startups will be provided with free legal and business consulting courtesy of Bingham McCutchen. The event will also include a series of keynotes and demonstrations followed by a cocktail and networking reception and is supported by several community partners including AllAfrica.com, Thoughtworks, The Africa Channel, Africa 2.0, Toniic, Ventures Africa, Impact Hub,  Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative, Georgetown Aspiring Minority Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs, and The African Impact Group.
