Emerging Artists to Premiere Unconventional Performance Featuring Opera and Video Art in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Oct. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- San Jose, CA -- Emerging Bay Area performing artist Ewa Nowicka will premiere an original performance titled “Reserved for Amy” on Nov. 14 and 16 at MACLA in Downtown San Jose. “Reserved for Amy” was created in response to Silicon Valley Creates’ NextGen Cohort initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to “to support the deepening of audiences and to enable a connection and relationship with next generation audiences.”

Ewa Nowicka is one of only two independent artists chosen from a competitive group of applicants based on her multimedia, modern and engaging concept for “Reserved for Amy.” The event aims to bring classical vocal music to a modern performance platform, to present the art form in an intimate, relatable, and multi-media setting. This project is a staged concert of classical vocal music, featuring art songs and arias for mezzo soprano and piano. This event features a scripted storyline told through the music of Brahms, Britten, Poulenc, Mozart, Moniuszko, Poldowski and many others. Bay Area performing and visual artist Lessa Bouchard’s original video art will be featured throughout the production, and Opera San Jose vocal coach and pianist Simona Snitkovsky will perform as collaborative pianist.


Ms. Nowicka is the sole producer, project manager, story writer, and main performer for the event. Ms. Nowicka received her classical vocal training at Boston Conservatory, and is a recipient of the Dragon Theatre of Redwood
City Second Stages Award to produce a fully staged modern interpretation of a classical period opera in 2015. Ms. Nowicka lives in Santa Clara County.
