Follow on Google News | Campground Fees In Emmett Ranger District To RiseCampground Fees Increased to Help Improve Campground Facilities
By: Scenic Canyons Recreational Services Only a portion of the recreational sites, ran by Scenic Canyons Recreational Services under a special use permit from the Forest Service, on the Emmett Ranger District will have an increase in fees. Two significant reasons for the increase are to help improve the campground facilities and to help cover increased costs due to the rise in inflation. Scenic Canyons and the Forest Service have come up with a three year maintenance improvement plan to help improve the campgrounds. A portion of the increase will go to fund these projects. Among the list of projects is painting facilities, resetting fire rings, purchasing new tables and fire rings, and servicing walk ways. Scenic Canyons in a statement to the Forest Service wrote “We are asking for an increase to cover increased costs and to bring them in line with other concessionaire ran campgrounds in the State and other nearby areas… Even at the prices we are recommending, the recommended prices will still be significantly below a lot of other campgrounds in the comparison area”. The campgrounds and associated fees that have been affected are Antelope, Eastside, Hollywood, Sagehen Creek, Boiling Springs, Tie Creek, Rattlesnake, Hot Springs Campgrounds, Boiling Springs Cabin, and Deadwood Lookout Cabin. The increased fees will take effect on April 15, 2015 on the National Recreation Reservation System website, www.recreation.gov and at the start of the 2015 season, typically in May, weather depending.
