By: Round Lake Area B.E.S.T. Round Lake Area B.E.S.T. presented Frontline Street Intervention with a $2,500 grant to help them launch their new Gang Intervention Program. Shirley Christian, the B.E.S.T. Empowerment Grants Committee Chair, said that the awarding of the full amount to launch the program was an exciting decision for the committee. Frontline Street Intervention is a not for profit organization. Under the direction and leadership of Ricky Bueno, they have established a faith-based support group, with a goal to assist at-risk youth and adults in turning away from destructive behaviors. It is their desire is to equip men and women in leading productive lives in their communities by focusing on meeting their social, spiritual, and emotional needs. Kathy Myers, President of Round Lake Area B.E.S.T. shared that she and the general membership all enthusiastically supported grant award that is above and beyond the normal $1,000 maximum grant that is offered. Frontline Street Intervention is working with parents, schools, churches, police departments, probation officers and community based organizations to accomplish their mission. Round Lake Area B.E.S.T. (Bringing Everyone’s Strengths Together) is also a not for profit membership based organization. It is a coalition of organizations working for the betterment of the Round Lake Area. Grants are presented to individuals and organizations supporting the Six Pillars of Character – Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. We meet the second Thursday of each month at 8:30am at the Round Lake Area Public Library and welcome all area organizations, groups and residents. Left to Right: Kathy Myers, B.E.S.T.
