LOS ANGELES - Oct. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Angel Berry, spoken word music artist who is up for several Grammy nods, will be performing a new song she co-wrote with her multi-platinum music producer, Andrew Lane for the “Going for Blue” Gala on October 18, 2014.  Guests will be dressed in different shades of blue to support the World Games’ celebration of courage, determination and joy of Special Olympics athletes.  Expected to be in attendance is Ellen DeGeneres and many other A-list celebrities, world-famous athletes and American legends at an event chaired by President Barack Obama at a celebration honoring the Special Olympics.

“I am so honored to be performing at such an important event and taking part in the celebration of Special Olympic athletes,” Berry explained.  Berry will also be reporting from the red carpet as a junior broadcaster for KidzHub Media.  She will be joined by fellow “hubber” Zachary Alexander Rice in obtaining red carpet interviews for the media network.  For more info, visit www.kidzhub.com

Nearly five decades after Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded the athletic competition for those with disabilities, athletes from around the world stood as living testimony to how their lives had been shaped by a program that treated them as equals and worthy contenders. Berry and Lane will perform the song for the very first time in public which will pay tribute to what the Special Olympics have come to stand for: pride, teamwork, friendship and dignity.

"What all these people represent is what the Special Olympics is all about: overcoming obstacles with love and kindness and generosity and health competition," Obama said at a Special Olympics event in August 2014. "Those are values that everybody can use. Those are values that the Special Olympics can teach all of us."

Those are values Berry lives by and a consistent message in her songs.  In 2013, Berry signed with multi-platinum music producer, Andrew Lane, and partnered with him to write and produce a CD of the spoken word genre based upon her poems, which share messages of compassion, love and anti-bullying.  In October 2013, Berry and Lane collaborated on a song dedicated to those who suffered from damage sustained in the recent tsunami in the Philippines. The song is called “Strong.”  Her music video “Today I Learned” was just published and has garnered over 35,000 views on YouTube.  Berry recently released her second album, “Reflections Volume 2” which is being considered for several Grammy nominations.  “Reflections Volume 2” is available on iTunes, Amazon, and MTV.
