Magic Monkey Films are in production for a new independent Scottish Film which brings the ‘Road Movie’ to the Highlands of Scotland.

The concept for this film not only takes in the best of Scottish scenery but showcases its new talent. Produces BAFTA Scotland Nominee Ryan Hendrick*, BAFTA Award Winner David Newman* have cast the leads as relatively unknown but excellent Scottish actors, but complete the cast with Scots celebrity.

In a picturesque manner this casting plan perfectly becomes a metaphor for both the Scottish landscape and the Scottish Screen Industry. `Director Ryan Hendrick said, “The Scottish Film Industry is in a state of crisis and it’s down to a lack of

creativity and commercial risk at the hands of those at the top.

The absence of strong quaint romantic comedies particularly in Scotland since the days of Bill Forsyth's Gregory's Girl and Local Hero has long been felt, and I am attempting to resolve this. “

Altered Images Singer and Gregory’s Girl star Clare Grogan said, “I read the script and simply loved the idea of it.”

Synopsis:

After neglecting his fiancée Karen in favour of his career and impressive friends, City Lawyer Neil realizes his mistake and follows her in a fast paced romantic comedy across the Highlands to salvage their relationship. At the opening of this love story Karen has her own career opportunity and is about to leave for Cape Wrath as an Environmental Researcher. Neil is insensitively late for her leaving party and this is further evidence that she should cut all ties with him.

During Neil’s struggle against the rush hour traffic to reach Karen, a thief attempts to steal his car from the subway car park. The car bursts into flames and Neil is caught on national television rescuing the thief from the inferno as it explodes.

Leaving Neil with no transport, he is at a loss of how he will ever win Karen back.

But hope is not lost, as in all good movies, a wayward cousin arrives and offers to drive him to the Northern most tip of Scotland, in the name of love.

Del is a six footed, red headed, eccentric environmentalist and takes Neil across the depths of the Scottish Highlands in his packed in old psychedelic Taxi Cab. Converted only to run on Sunflower oil, the pair find themselves with plenty of time to deconstruct Neil and Karen’s love life dating back to their childhood.

After hilarious and exciting journey which features a run in with a group on travelling Carnival folk, an enthusiastic Carpet Restorer; the villagers of Bad Call Bay and the epic vistas and culture of the Scottish Highlands Neil finds himself , his girl and his reclaimed love for Scotland.
