DFW Excellerator Attended TiE South Conference, Dallas, Texas

DALLAS - Oct. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- DFW Excellerator (http://dfwexcellerator.com/EN/index.aspx) attended the TiE South Conference (http://tieconsouth.org), October 11, 2014 in Dallas, Texas.  Today’s Vision, Tomorrow’s Reality – Gateway to Entrepreneurship was the theme for this year.  The Conference was held at the Westin Dallas Park Central, Dallas, TX.

TiECon South 2014 was a premier event that brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals from a wide spectrum of industries to discuss real-world success stories about how to create transformative changes resulting in successful organizations.

The Conference featured industry leaders and successful entrepreneurs sharing their experiences, successes and challenges as they built their businesses.  Participants learned new strategies to scale business, reach new markets, launch products and utilize resources emerging through today’s changing trends.

Jason Liu, Founder and Managing Director of DFW Excellerator remarks, “I am glad to see more opportunities being offered by the communities to the Entrepreneurs.  They have many ways to get exposure now and we are glad to be part of the ecosystem”.

Sarvajna Dwivedi, Ph.D., Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Pearl Therapeutics, Inc was the Keynote Speaker, speaking on “Entrepreneurial Journey of a Scientist: Building an Innovative Pharmaceutical Company”.  Pearl Therapeutics, Inc recently sold to AstraZeneca for $1.15B.

Panel discussions included “Future of Energy Investments”, “Entrepreneurs who happen to be Women”, “Getting Acquired – Positioning for the Perfect Exit” and “Software Eats IT Infrastructure: Driving Unprecedented Agility and Efficiency”.

Emmitt Smith of the Dallas Cowboys was the “Celebrity Judge” of the Entrepreneurial Idol Pitch Competition, “The 2014 Entrepreneurial Idol Competition”, An American Idol Style – the Business Idea & Innovation Competition, where the audience decided on the winner.

The Top Ten selected Entrepreneurs including those from the TiE Dallas Mentoring Program and other selected companies from the broader Dallas entrepreneurial community competed in “The 2014 Entrepreneurial Idol Competition”.  Each entrepreneur was given 2 minutes to pitch their ideas and innovation in front of the audiences and judges, the audience voted via remote controls, the panel of judges provided feedback and asked questions of each of the entrepreneurs.  The top 3 were announced and presented an autographed football and their award of a strategy session with leading mentors by Emmitt Smith.

As Nick Mysore, Chair of the TiE Dallas Mentoring program says “there is nothing more real and exhilarating than going in front of a huge audience and trying to get them to buy your business idea in 2 minutes”.

TiE conference attendees span the spectrum from CEOs of mature companies, to first time and repeat entrepreneurs creating new companies, financial market experts, government policy makers and well-regarded personalities from academics and media.
