MEDFORD, N.Y. - Oct. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- National Breast Cancer Awareness Month was founded in 1985. It is organized by many breast cancer charities and it is an international health campaign to raise awareness of the breast cancer and to raise funds for research. The funds are allocated into paying for researching its cause, prevention, diagnosis, management and treatment. One main focus of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month to promote awareness of how effective mammography is in the battle against this disease. In 1991, the pink ribbon was first seen associated with breast cancer when the Susan G. Komen Foundation used it during a race for breast cancer. It was not until 1993 that the pink ribbon was officially established as the symbol of breast cancer awareness.

“The Lux at Medford family is committed to raising awareness of breast cancer.  Breast cancer is a disease that affects many Americans and it should not be underestimated. It is essential that breast cancer charities and foundations receive funds to continue providing their important services,” says Daniel Monahan, Administrator at The Lux at Medford Multicare Center for Living.
