ARLINGTON, Texas - Oct. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- VRD Products, Inc. announces the availability of its VRaptor™ sports wheelchair. The patented VRaptor™ sports wheelchair represents the first new design in decades and is the only sports wheelchair created for mixed, disabled and able-bodied users. It was designed specifically to support the institutional environment.

Recent developments in adapted physical education have shown that one way to fill out teams in schools where there are not enough disabled students is to put able-bodied students in the remaining positions. Sports wheelchairs also provide a level playing field for coed PE activities by eliminating the advantages of height and weight, and to a large degree, strength.

Other sports wheelchairs can be somewhat fragile, requiring special skills to maintain the chairs. The VRaptor™ is built of laser-cut aircraft aluminum, features cast six-spoke main wheels (no spokes to adjust or break) and is essentially maintenance-free. The chair has no adjustable features to come loose or require adjustment. It has padded seat and back cushions, durable powder coat finish, and quick release axles. It is also extremely stable, with the lowest center of gravity of any available chair. Chassis weight compares favorably to other sports wheelchairs.

The VRaptor™ supports most adapted sports and was designed to be NWBA rules-compliant as far as bumper height and anti-tip caster placement. It is available in four, fixed seat widths: 12”, 15”, 18” and 21”. The 21” chair is the largest sports wheelchair currently available and has been tested with occupant loads up to 500 pounds. A limited set of options, such as seatbelts, is available.

VRD Products, Inc. is a start-up in Arlington, Texas, developing sports wheelchairs and products for individuals with disabilities.
