MANDEVILLE, La. - Nov. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Using found recyclable objects, specifically postcards and business cards with obsolete business information, Catherine Rose Chiara has created a series of black and white ink drawings. The drawings focus on the cats in her life. In 2013 Catherine Rose Chiara was brought to Mandeville, Louisiana to live with her parents. In their home are five cats. Two of the cats were brought from Florida and belong to her oldest sister. The other three cats were homeless and found my mother to live with. Today it is a bustling home of three humans and five cats. Two of the cats remain indoors while three roam in and out. The cats names are Salem, Savannah, Grace, Sunshine, and Muffullatta.

Muffullata is the oldest cat and is dealing with some health issues. Sunshine and Grace are close to the same age and have great temperaments. Sunshine was declawed and was learning to live outdoors when he found my mother's home. Grace is a loud talker and very affectionate. When I told her she was my best friend she began looking for me every day and when she is inside at night she comes to my room to sleep with me. Salem and Savannah were rescued from a lab. They were both blood donor cats and spent their days sitting in cages. Their only interactions with humans was when they were having their blood drawn or getting their meals.

Catherine Rose Chiara has been creating art since 1992. She was living in Southern California and attending Orange Coast College. It was at that time Catherine Rose Chiara began painting. Focusing on painting as her primary discipline, Catherine Rose Chiara has gone on to exhibit her artwork on the east and west coasts, in the Midwest, and in the South. She has had her work added to collections including McGraw Hill Publishers in New York City. In 2012 while exhibiting at Art Expo New York, Catherine Rose Chiara was named One of the Top 50 Emerging Artists of 2012 by Art Business News Magazine.  Catherine Rose Chiara has created many series of paintings and has painted hundreds of paintings in her lifetime.  Catherine Rose Chiara always seeks new challenges in her work. This is the first time creating a series about cats.

The currents series "Cat-a-log" uses materials found in her home and studio. The first 43 (4.25" x5.5") drawings are on old business postcard with obsolete information on one side and blank on the other side. More drawings will be created on other recyclable paper she finds. Catherine Rose Chiara uses a Sharpie marker to capture the poses of the pets. This series of drawings will be available for purchase on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 6pm CST through Thursday, December 11, 6:00pm CST.

Catherine Rose Chiara is an informal artist. Currently not associated with any art gallery, Catherine Rose Chiara will hold virtual exhibits. She encourages people to invite friends to their home, open wine, set out cheese, and display the art exhibit on their computer or TV monitor. Viewers will be able to immediately purchase the original 4.25" x 5.5" artwork at that time. The artwork will be mailed within 24 hours. No prints will be available, only original artwork and therefore is limited. Catherine Rose Chiara says to consider this a contemporary virtual Tupperware party with artwork in place of Tupperware and a virtual image in place of the real image.
