Supporting Education and Positive Intercultural Exchange through Design

BERLIN - Oct. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Berlin, GERMANY, OCT 13, 2014 – Can the Old World meet the New World in a successful exchange of ideas and culture?  A German company, ABURY, believes so and has launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund the further mission of that idea.

"We have created three exchanges/collections so far," states Founder Andrea Kolb. "We worked with Yannick Hervy, a French designer who worked with traditional leather embroidery among artisans in Morocco.  Then Daniela Franceschini Ochoa, a Spanish designer, went to Ecuador to work with the Alpaca and a community of 40 women.   And Mayta Lara Leal, a Brazilian designer, also went to Morocco to work with vegetally tanned leather."

ABURY is pioneering the fashion industry by combining traditional, old world crafts with avant-garde designs creating a new luxury style that fosters intercultural exchange while preserving world crafts.  It does this by bringing together designers with traditional artisans from remote and inspiring.  The exchange of knowledge allows for a new context to emerge, lending crafts a new lease on life and lending designers an emotional component heretofore missing.

"That's why we're happy to announce we are launching our first international ABURY Design Experience," says Kolb.  "An annual contest that we hope will enable us to preserve more world crafts, present more emerging talented designers to the industry and have a bigger positive impact within the local communities."

The main goal of ABURY’s Great Circle of Design is to enable people, both designers and artisans, to shape the future with their own hands.  The ABURY Foundation registered as gemeinnützige GmbH in Germany is able to make this measurement and has been endorsed by the German UNESCOCommission as an innovative model preserving immaterial cultural world heritage. The ABURY Foundation has already supported the building of a well, a library, a school and provided 25.000 hours of education to women and their children.

Angel investors helping fund the ABURY DESIGN campaign to the next level will be eligible for perks such as thank yous, virtual hugs, post cards, key chains, magic wallets, nomad pouches, pashmina shawls, berber bags, clutches, vintage bags, shoulder bags, back packs and even surprises like a cultural trip and a trip to meet the designer.

The team also understands not everyone may be able to give money to help this project, so they ask that those who cannot give monetarily help by spreading the word about the Abury Design campaign online through social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr or record a video challenge for Vine, Facebook or Instagram to invite friends to give to or share this Indiegogo fundraiser.
