Julie Lewis Joins Zounds Hearing of Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Oct. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Zounds Hearing of Chattanooga, located at 1511 Gunbarrel Road, Suite 107, announces the hiring of Julie Lewis to the position of Customer Care Specialist.

Julie comes to Zounds Hearing of Chattanooga after a lengthy career in the medical field. She has worked at many well-known Chattanooga area assisted living facilities including Heath Care Center Standifer Place and Life Care Center of East Ridge, where she served as the Staffing Coordinator, a position that included patient care, scheduling, and supervising. She is also an expert in insurance utilization management and is able and willing to assist patients with understand the complex world of insurance authorizations and approvals.

Julie has also served as adjunct instructor for the medical assistant program at Miller-Motte Technical College. This included teaching CPR and first aid, phlebotomy, pharmacology and X-Ray education.

Julie recently spent time at Zounds Heaering of Metro Atlanta in order to train for her new position. Of the experience, she says, “I have so enjoyed my time training with the Zounds team in Atlanta. They were able to show me many of the aspects of the hearing technology found in Zounds products. It was mind-boggling and the team was top-notch.”

Having assisted geriatric patients and watching her own mother struggle with hearing loss, Julie is well versed in the importance of having your hearing tested regularly. “After working with patients with hearing loss for so many years and seeing how much my own mother struggles everyday with her hearing, I immersed myself in learning about hearing loss and how it affects so many other aspects of your life. To say taking care of your hearing is critical to your overall well-being is an understatement,” says Julie.

Studies have linked hearing loss to many different health issues including dementia, diabetes and depression.

The issue of hearing loss among veterans holds a special place in Julie’s heart, as she has a close family member who is currently in Africa serving in the Marines. “A large percentage of our military veterans are returning home from active duty with hearing loss or tinnitus. I think it’s important to raise awareness of this issue as many people don’t realize the extent of the problem,” says Julie. She hopes to be able to bring more awareness to the issue of hearing loss among military veterans through her work with Zounds Hearing of Chattanooga.
