St Andrews Aquarium is making a Splash at Scottish Thistle Awards

PERTH, Scotland - Oct. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Fife visitor attraction St Andrews Aquarium has been shortlisted for an award at the Regional Finals for the prestigious Scottish Thistle Awards. The underwater world of adventure has been shortlisted for Best Visitor Attraction at the Regional Final for Central South East of Scotland. The Aquarium is aiming to make waves here by securing a win that would take them through to the national final next year. It is one of only three other tourist businesses in Fife to be shortlisted.

This recognition marks an exciting time for the Fife coastal attraction after a period of development at the Aquarium with many visitors enjoying the array of wildlife inhabiting the cliff top vista, from Humboldt penguins to their - now famous - family of meerkats.

In the past 18 months, St Andrews Aquarium has introduced penguins, alligators, crocodiles and spiders, along with a variety of other animals, to the ever-expanding brood of wildlife. They have also revamped the coffee shop and launched a brand new website – all to support the continued growth of the Aquarium and offer visitors a memorable experience.

This year’s highly competitive Scottish Thistle Awards recognises excellence in the sector and the outstanding work by tourism businesses up and down the country. Flying the flag for Fife, it is one of one three Fife tourism businesses shortlisted for this year’s awards. The others are The Boudingate in Cupar and Blown Away Experiences. In their category St Andrews Aquarium are competing against Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway and The Real Mary King’s Close to make it through to the national final.

The ceremony for the Central South East region takes place on 5^th November at Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh.
