LOS ANGELES - Oct. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA – October 7, 2014 – Actors Brian Krause (Charmed, CSI: Miami, The Closer, Castle), and Rick Ravanello (Weeds, Desperate Housewives, Dark Haul, Outpost 37) join the cast of Sand Trap, a film collaboration between Special Olympics athlete, Jacob Price, and Actor/Director, John J Vogel.

Fundraising for the film continues through the project’s IndieGoGo campaign, which kicked off at the end of September 2014.

What's Your Handicap? Sand Trap is a movie about Professional Golfer, Kenny Monahue (Krause), who was recently suspended from The Tour for fighting both on and off the course at a high profile golf event with his archrival, Justin Price (Ravanello). While waiting to hear if he will be reinstated to the world of professional golf, his brother helps him land a job at a local country club where he is paired with Eric Beemer (Jacob Price), a man with special needs. Eric is somewhat of a golf savant when it comes to tending the course and displays other abilities surrounding the game of golf.

Eric’s spirit and unfiltered honesty resonate deeply with Kenny making him realize how short sighted he has been and how he has taken his athletic talents for granted. Because of Eric, Kenny starts to embrace who he is, begins to change his destructive behaviors, and regains hope of being able to play professionally, once again. As their friendship develops, Kenny learns a new appreciation for the game of golf as he sets out to rebuild his life from the ground up.

Brian Krause and Rick Ravanello met Sand Trap co-creators, John J Vogel and Jacob Price, at Celebrity Winterfest, a corporate fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics of Northern California and Nevada. They have all participated in the event for several years and are huge supporters of the Special Olympic athletes as well as the organization.

Vogel said, “I have been talking with Brian and Rick about Sand Trap since it’s inception. Knowing there might be challenges making this film with first time actor, Jacob Price, I wanted to surround Jacob with fellow actors that not only support him, but also love him dearly and want him to succeed. Oh, and they just happen to be incredibly talented actors. I couldn’t be happier having them aboard.”

“I am so honored to be part of this groundbreaking film,” says Ravanello. I met Jacob at the Celebrity Winterfest benefitting Special Olympics and immediately fell in love with him and the rest of the Athletes. John’s vision of including the Athletes we know from the event in the film is fantastic and I can’t wait to work them.”

Krause said, “The lot of us who get asked to be part of Celebrity Winterfest have become a sort of family in Los Angeles. When Jacob comes to visit, we play golf and talk about the film. We all have a true sense of camaraderie with one another and I think that will shine through during the production of the film too.”

“When John Vogel told me that Brian and Rick had officially joined the cast, I had to pinch myself. Yes, pinch myself. I know these guys and their incredible past,” touted Dan Davies who is a producer and co-star in Sand Trap. “Then to know they’ve also been supporters of the Special Needs Community and Special Olympics means even more. My step-brother, Travis, while he may have numerous challenges, he also has a great sense of humor which really comes through when he entertains us with the worst impersonations of John Wayne and Jimmy Cagney ever known to man”!

Ultimately, Jacob Price has the last word. “I’m super excited for Brian Krause and Rick Ravanello to be coming aboard. They have a belief in me, and the project, and that can only mean our success. I have the honor of calling them my friends.”

A portion of the film’s proceeds will be donated to the Special Olympics in support of an organization that has done so much to empower Jacob as well as millions of other athletes around the world.
