Comedian Michael Glazer's TRUETH Returns to Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Originally a book by Glazer (semi-finalist on Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America, former assistant director for Second City Chicago’s Main Stage and International Touring Company), TRUETH is now a live show that combines stand-up, sketch, breakdancing, and social experiments, all underscored by live violin. The multi-talented cast includes Glazer, classical violinist Chris Woods (VMAs, American Idol), breakdancer Chuck Maa (America’s Best Dance Crew), character actor Lisa Laureta (OWN) and director Adam McCabe (UCB’s Bangarang!).

Glazer is certainly capturing Los Angeles’ attention. Glazer hangs LOST YAK flyers with his phone number all over the city, collects strangers' wacky voicemails and plays them during the show. Last week, he earned a spot in Playboy’s "funniest tweets of the week" when his joke about two breakdancers’ tombstones went viral (see photo).

Most importantly, Glazer has created a show unlike any other in Los Angeles. “It's outside the box,” says violinist Chris Woods, “we're having a blast and that carries over into the audience." Character actor Lisa Laureta adds, "being in TRUETH is like finally being able to do all the crazy sh*t you've always wanted to do but thought might be illegal…or at least ill-advised. I hope it’s as cathartic for the audience as it is for us."

Audiences seem to think so. “I would certainly not oppose to its classification as Performance Art […] It was partly that,” said TRUETH audience-member Eric Stitt. “But it was hilarious at the same time, and scripted, so it's SKETCH! Job well done, Trueth-tellers!” Jessica Joy from Bad Judge reviewed the show in one concise tweet, “SO F****** GOOD!”
