Follow on Google News | Julie’s Food Pantry Expands its Scope of Services and Changes Name to Julie’s LoveNon-profit to Add Job Readiness and Addiction Support Programs January 2015
By: Julie's Love “While providing food to those in Montgomery County, our team began to realize the only way to eradicate hunger is to eliminate poverty,” says Aubrey Alston, President and Founder of Julie’s Love. “ That is why it was important for us to rebrand, add services such as job readiness and addiction support to empower our clients as they strive to better their living conditions.” Starting in January 2015, Julie’s Love will host a “produce market” that will offer free fresh fruits and vegetables to the community, and also begin the addiction support group that will meet twice a month. In the summer, Julie’s Love will launch a cooperative job-readiness program for at-risk youth. Julie’s Love is also excited about the fundraising partnership they have with Chee Burger Chee Burger of Rockville. In the month of November, supporters of the non-profit will have access to a printable coupon in which 20% of the proceeds will benefit upcoming thanksgiving and holiday initiatives. They will also be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Shoot on November 27th at the Laytonsville Golf Course, where a portion of all of the profits from that day will benefit Julie’s Love. For updates, more information and to print out the coupon, visit www.julieslove.org. Julie’s Love is an all-volunteer organization that started in 2012 to support Montgomery County’s “working poor” and to help fight hunger. Programs include back to school bags, Thanksgiving food baskets, addiction support programs, job readiness for at-risk youth and a monthly fresh produce market. Julie’ End
