By: Action for Sick Children However, the Chief Executive of Action for Sick Children, said she hoped “at least some” of the funding would be used for children and young people’s services. NHS England have said the funding will go towards establishing new early intervention services and meeting waiting-time targets. They also planned investment in more liaison psychiatry services in acute hospitals, spending £7million on in-patient beds for children and young person’s mental health services and better physical health care for those with mental health disorders. The move came after it was revealed that a fifth of GPs have seen patients come to harm as they were unable to access appropriate support from their community mental health teams, with some patients committing suicide, being sectioned or admitted as a result. Miss Jackson, speaking from her High Lane, Sockport HQ, added: “Any investment in NHS services is a positive move and we wholeheartedly welcome it. However, we must ensure that children and young people receive their fair share of such investments and we look forward to seeing our youngsters benefit from this latest move.” For further information click onto: www.actionforsickchildren.org.uk ENDS End
