Expert Jury Nominates 21 Candidates for the European Cultural Brand Awards 2014

BERLIN - Oct. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The shortlist for the Cultural Brand Awards 2014 has been finalised. Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Oliver Scheytt, President of the Cultural Political Society, a jury of 31 experts from culture, business and media selected 21 candidates for the awards which are open to entrants from across Europe for the first time. 99 applications were received, 35 from the European countries Belgium, Greece, Great Britain, Estonia, France, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein, Holland, Norway, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. The aurica sculpture prizes, to be awarded across categories for the first time, will be handed out on October 30th at the Night of Cultural Brands in the State Opera in the Schiller Theatre in Berlin. The best marketing strategies from cultural institutions, the most creative forms of investment into culture and the most committed culture manager will be rewarded, among others.

Here are the jury's shortlists:

European Cultural Brand of the Year: Deutsches Historisches Museum (Berlin), the Institut du monde arabe (Paris) and the Ruhr Museum (Essen).

European Take-off Brand of the Year: the Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra, the Palais de Tokyo (Paris) and the Museomix Project (Rennes).

City Brand of the Year: Bregenz (Austria), Aachen (Germany) and Frankfurt (Oder)-Slubice (Germany-Poland border)

European Cultural Manager of the Year: Hedy Graber (Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund, Switzerland), Gerd Hary Lybke (Eigen+Art Gallery, Germany), André Schmitz (former State Secretary for Culture, Berlin)

European Cultural Investor of the Year: cathedral-construction-society Hohe Domkirche Hildesheim (Germany), RWE Ceska republika (Czech Republic), Royal Philips Electronics (Netherlands)

European Cultural Tourism Region of the Year: Via Habsburg (DACH countries and France), A journey to Nantes(France), Ruhr Tourism (Germany)

European Educational Program of the Year: Liechtenstein National Museum, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt (Germany), the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (Germany).

The Cultural Brand Awards are in their ninth year. More than 1,000 decision-makers and communicators from culture, politics, business and media will be attending the Night of Cultural Brands, the gala awards ceremony at the State Opera in the Schiller Theatre in Berlin, supported by Der Tagesspiegel, arte magazine and the BMW Group.

The event is the highlight of the CultureInvest Congress in Berlin. This European industry meet-up for cultural management, marketing and investment will take place on October 30th and 31st in the publishing rooms of the Tagesspiegel and the neighbouring Mövenpick Hotel Berlin at Askanischen Platz.
