Invacare to sponsor upcoming Shear Conference in London

CARDIFF, Wales - Oct. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- On 20^th October, the BHTA (British Healthcare Trade Association) will hold a conference in St James’s Street, London, entitled Shear and tissue integrity – the state of the science in which Invacare will be the principal sponsor.

Shear combined with pressure is a contributing factor to pressure ulcer development, something which is thought to affect 412,000 people annually. Pressure ulcers are also known as pressure sores or bed sores and are debilitating and painful for patients. The late actor Christopher Reeve was one of those patients and it resulted in the loss of his life in 2004.

The shear symposium will bring together a group of experts in the field, both to provide a direction for ISO Working Group 11 in producing guidance or a technical document, and to work towards a clear definition of shear in the human body.
