Land Rover Columbia To Be Presenting Sponsor of the Prestigious USPA Northrup Knox Cup 12 Goal TournamentThis year’s tournament includes four teams (Kenny Ray Personal Fitness, High Ground, Crestview/Karna and Winfield) with players who have participated in many Knox Cup tournaments since its inauguration. Although there are some new faces this year, many of the tournament’s veterans, such as Owen Rinehart, Adam Snow, MatiasMagrini, Alan Meeker, Willie Hartnett, Joe Meyer, Barb Uskup and Will Tankard will return to play. The Knox Cup originated in Aiken in 2003 and is played in memory of one of Aiken’s polo greats, Northrup “Norty” Knox. He was known as one of America’s finest offensive players and the only amateur polo player in the Post-War era to reach an eight-goal rating. Knox captained the U.S. team in the challenge for the Cup of the Americas in 1966 and 1969 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was inducted into the Polo Hall of Fame in 1994.
