World-Renowned Pianist Opens St. Ann’s Concert Series

 
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Oct. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- World-renowned pianist Robert McDonald joins East Carolina University’s Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival touring ensemble, ECU Next Gen on the Road, for a performance on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m., at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road. The event opens the fifth season of Gaudium Musicae, a concert series offered by St. Ann’s to highlight local and regional musicians in an intimate, acoustically superior venue.

McDonald is professor of piano studies at The Juilliard School and The Curtis Institute of Music as well as a concert soloist and recording artist. A frequent accompanist to distinguished musicians, including Isaac Stern and Midori, he joins ECU faculty, students and selected Charlotte-area music students for a concert of chamber music masterpieces.

The 2014-1015 Gaudium Musicae series also features the Carolina Catholic Chorale on Friday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m.; chamber music by Catawba River Baroque on Sunday, March 22 at 4:00 p.m.; and the Winthrop University World Percussion Ensemble on Sunday, April 26 at 4:00 p.m.

Season subscriptions are $40 for adults, $25 for students and $100 for families. Single concert tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and $30 for families. Children 12 and under are free.
