Students of IAM designed “Navdurga” in a fashionable avatar

GURGAON, India - Oct. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Institute of Apparel Management, Gurgaon with great joy and vigor celebrated the festival of Navratri in their own unique and fashionable way. Navratri is a festival that honors the Mother Goddess in all her manifestations. It is a festival full of worship and dance and is celebrated all over India. Over the course of nine days, the Mother Goddess is worshipped in her various forms - Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati.

To honor the Mother Goddess during the auspicious Navratri celebration, students of IAM conceptualized and designed the new avatar for the “Navdurga”. Students designed and styled all the nine avatars of the Goddesses and showcased their collections. From Goddess Durga to Lakshmi, Saraswati and Kali and the Mahishasur all the avatars were designed in a new modern look under the guidance of Ms.Madhupriya, Faculty associate in IAM. The celebration started off with the first Navratri and will last for 9 days; each day different avatar of Goddess Durga will be styled. The students are not only designing and styling the different 9 looks of Durga but they are also enacting them and presenting it in a form of short storytelling sessions.

Speaking about the “Navdurga” designs Mr. Somesh Singh, director IAM said "We always strive for innovation and uniqueness with our designs and collections and this time for Navratri, we have launched this new and fashionable avatar of “Navdurga”.

Navratri celebration organized by the Institute was nothing less than a cultural extravaganza. All the faculty and students were dressed up in tradition attire and offered their prayers to Goddess. The event was followed by a Dandiya Raas and lunch.
