Power Design, Inc. Aids in Disaster Relief after Hurricane Hits Cabo San Lucas

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - Oct. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Power Design, Inc., a national electrical contractor based in St. Petersburg, Fla., recently donated to the relief efforts in Cabo San Lucas after Hurricane Odile wreaked havoc on the Mexican peninsula several weeks ago.

Hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed when the Category 3 Hurricane directly hit Cabo San Lucas with 125-mile-per-hour winds and six hours of rain. Tourist and residential areas were seriously affected, followed by incidents of looting, stranded travelers, power outages, and at least 135 injured people. Hurricane Odile is the strongest tropical cyclone on modern record to hit Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula.

As news of relief efforts began to spread, Power Design felt compelled to help through Project V5. This unique program deposits proceeds collected from scrap metal on jobsites across the country into an accumulating charitable fund. Power Design allocates money throughout the year to a variety of non-profit causes, mainly per the request of employees and local communities.

“I am glad we were able to use Project V5 to help with relief efforts in Mexico,” said Power Design CFO, Dana Permuy. “The goal of our charitable program has always been to help the communities who need it most.” Since inception in 2008, Project V5 has raised more than $600,000for charitable causes and has partnered with more than 100 community organizations.
