Young People Lacking Workplace Skills

The Difficulty Young People Face When Job Hunting. What Are Their Problems?

CANARY WHARF, U.K. - Oct. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- One subject that keeps hitting the news is young people who are struggling to find work. Arguments go backwards and forwards as to whether it is the governments fault for not giving the relevant education on work experience or the lack of opportunities that are available.

PureAtlantic looks into how the situation really is at the moment.

Results from surveys have shown that young people lack workplace skills such as communication and team work. It is thought 9 out of 10 school leavers are not ready for employment and more than half said it the same for graduates. If this is the case then universal work experience should be made available in secondary schools and the Department for Education should find more ways to help schools and businesses co-operate.

When businesses were surveyed, they put the situation down to a lack of work experience and that more than 50% of young people did not even have basic skills such as communication.

However, it needs to be considered that the majority of business do not offer work experience placements themselves. Therefore, this is already an indication as to why young people lack skills. They are already being blocked from the opportunity to try and work on these skills.

Businesses argue that hiring a young person was a ‘risky’ move. Many businesses tend to favour more skilled and experienced candidates and while they sympathise, their primary function is to run a business which means making business decisions.

However, it is the business environment that will teach young people to be resilient, good communicators, and understand to how work as part of a team. It is these basic skills that equip young people into work.

PureAtlantic encourages school leavers and graduates to join them where they will be surrounded by opportunities. PureAtlantic is willing to spend the time to develop individuals and turn them into managers within a year. Not many companies are able or willing to invest in a high amount of time in candidates and this is one of the difficulties young people face.

It is this gap in the employment world where PureAtlantic is thriving at the moment. PureAtlantic always looks for the gaps where other businesses are going wrong and this is why PureAtlantic does well. PureAtlantic has realised that young people are finding it difficult to obtain amazing opportunities as a result of too much competition or limited places.

PureAtlantic offers many opportunities for those who want to work hard and succeed. It also caters to everyone as there are different skill sets. It is fair enough to blame the schools for not giving the adequate education. However, it needs to be considered that not everyone is academic and some do learn better at taking part in something to gain something. PureAtlantic gives candidates the opportunity to see a real life business environment. They are taught the basic skills which allow them to develop throughout the industry to the point where they are able to teach new candidates their skills and knowledge.

Another reason why PureAtlantic is growing so fast is that it does not matter what a candidate’s background is. PureAtlantic has candidates who are school leavers, some are graduates and others have joined after a career change. The majority of businesses are looking for candidates with a particular background or skill set. This is understandable. As mentioned earlier, businesses do not always have the time or resources to teach people from the beginning. This makes it difficult for young people. They are unable to get their hands on work experience and then this makes it difficult getting a job. PureAtlantic invests time with everyone and teaches them what they need to know going at the pace that is suited to every person. Everyone deserves a chance at the end of the day and this is what PureAtlantic aims to do.
