The 6th Annual Buzzard Island Adventure Run Provides Fun for the Whole Family

OKATIE, S.C. - Oct. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- One of the most eagerly anticipated Lowcountry events of the season, the Buzzard Island Adventure Run is scheduled for Sunday, October 12, at 1 Hayfield Rd. at the end of Pinckney Colony Road in Okatie. Currently entering its sixth year, the popular cross-country style race presents runners of all ages with many different terrains and obstacles. The premier Bluffton area Chrysler dealership, Hilton Head Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is sponsoring the event.

“This is one of our favorite races that we sponsor,” said John Lyons, General Manager of Hilton Head Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. “We have fun in the mud with the Jeeps and it's for a great cause.”

Fun in the mud is on the docket indeed, as the course for the Buzzard Island Adventure Run will take participants through trails that feature water, mud, and challenging obstacles such as fences, hay bales, and steep bluffs.

Both the 2 mile course and the 4 mile course offer their share of such challenges, and runners may look forward to post-race awards in a wide variety of categories in male, female, and children’s divisions.

The race will start at 10 a.m., and all those interested in participating can register online. Children and adults of all ages are encouraged to join in. Registration prices are as follows:

Age 18 and under - $15.00 race fee, $2.50 sign-up fee.
Age 19 and up - $30.00 race fee, $2.50 sign-up fee.

Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit the Bluffton Fins Swim Team and another charity yet to be named.

The Bluffton Fins Swim Team provides year-round swimming programs for Bluffton and Beaufort area youths. A club member of USA Swimming, they offer swimming lessons as well as team-centered instruction, training, and competition.
