The survey results report, designed to assist in the marketing planning process, contains responses from more than 100 marketing and management professionals representing industries including healthcare and life sciences, business and professional services, software and technology, and manufacturing and distribution.

The survey, which was fielded throughout the summer of 2014, asked participants about a wide range of marketing topics, including top areas of marketing spend, social media and sales lead sources. The results reflect which marketing tactics are being utilized by today’s marketing professionals, and which tactics are yielding the highest return-on-investment.

“The survey report acts as useful tool for marketing planning. Not only does it reveal how companies are actually investing in marketing, it reveals disconnects between attitudes and action,” says Mark Schmukler, Managing Partner at Sagefrog Marketing Group. “For instance, we found that although half of companies believe social media is important, investment has been limited to date. This information suggests that companies may want to allocate more resources towards social media and hold its value in higher regard when planning for 2015.”

Key results include:

·         Almost half of companies do not have a marketing plan, yet 35% plan to increase their 2015 marketing budget

·         Half of companies are spending 5% or more of their revenue on marketing

·         Digital marketing channels are becoming a top source of sales leads and ROI

·         LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter are the most popular social media sites for B2B companies
