Blackbirrd Dance Company Empowers Kids and Adults in Los Angeles

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Oct. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- BEVERLY HILLS, CA – October 2, 2014 –Blackbird Dance Company (BDCo),a non-profit organization,  empowers children and adults in dance offering unique classes geared toward the developmental aspects for children age 2 years through to adults in all levels. With a large selection of dance styles BDCo offers classes in break dancing, ballet, jazz, yoga, vogue funk, circus fit, hip-hop, kizomba, lyrical, belly dance, and grove. All classes at BDCo are offered on a private or group environment. (Group classes are only $5 for kids or adults with $100 unlimited month option.)

Alexandra Blackbird de Ochoa (Founder / Director), formed the Blackbird Dance Company (BDCo a non-profit organization)in 2005,  to promote accessibility of the arts and the celebration of cultural diversity through educational opportunities; along with providing a creative studio space for the community incorporating interactive live music and dance performances for the public.

Alexandra Blackbird de Ochoa brings to dance two decades of touring as a performer and choreographer, dancing for Off-Broadway musicals such as: West Side Story Broadway Tour with Trinity Repertory and lead in Thin Line, a dance drama at Dance Theatre Workshop in Chelsea area NYC, Guest-Artist teaching residencies at: Studio Encore in Canada and Marquis Studios in NYC, co-founder ofnationally touring non-profitdance and theater group, Fusion Dance Company which  had  a well-known studio in Capitol Hill District in Seattle, WA, Non-Profit Artistic Board Consultant for: Up You Mighty Race Theatre Company in Boston, MA and Artistic Director for Dance Forum in RI. It was through Ms. Blackbird’s extensive experience and her desire to influence how dance is viewed in the US that drove her to launch BDCo as a top tier AFFORDABLE dance company and studio in Los Angeles. BDCo provides LOW COST classes for those attending giving them the experience and the thrill of dance. BDCo’s current 2014-2015 season will include several company performances, choreographed by Director, Alexandra Blackbird de Ochoa, such as: Love Songs a Blackbird Jazz and Lyrical Series, a live music and dance event that incorporates contemporary Jazz music and dance performer interaction.  The ART Burlesque series, a live music and dance event, brilliantly sexy and provocatively engaging show that fuses Live Music, Dance, Theatricality, Humor, and Sensuality. 24 Blackbirds: the Musical focuses on artistic costuming and set;a family of colorful birds where each takes a life’s journey to find out what makes them fly. Using the Blackbird eclectic mixture of Afro-Modern Dance and fusing other cultural forms of Jazz, African, Latin and Tribal original rhythms, it is a beautiful and personal reflection of cultures and relationships.

BDCo’s future is working toward a season where artistic management and performers continue to further their creative artistic development of live music and dance that interacts with the audience bringing this experience to the worldwide community. BDCo’s goal is to provide low and no cost performances that celebrate diverse cultures and communities which may not otherwise have the chance to see such performances.
