NORWELL, Mass. - Oct. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Speech-Language Pathology Center (www.slpcenter.com), a nationally recognized provider of innovative, professional speech and language therapy, has announced the introduction of a high-tech app for use in its voice therapy programs.

Tammy Taylor, MS, CCC-SLP, the Center’s founder and Jordyn Sims, MS, CF-SLP, the center’s lead voice therapist, said that the Center is using the OperaVOX app as an integral tool in its voice therapy treatment for patients.

OperaVOX is designed specifically for professionals for monitoring the voice quality of their clients – laryngologists, speech and language pathologists, voice coaches and singing teachers.

OperaVOX Multi brings advanced voice quality analysis capability to the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and delivers professional voice analysis anywhere. It uses state-of-the-art voice analysis algorithms to measure voice quality straight from the electronic device, without the use of specialist equipment. OperaVOX has been built by doctors, medical researchers, signal processing engineers, and speech and language pathologists specializing in voice quality analysis.

The OperaVOXapp enables the Center to analyze pitch and voice stability, while affording the voice therapy patient the opportunity to check his/her progress in between therapy sessions. The app has value for both Speech-Language Pathologists as well as ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) physicians who are looking for “before” and “after” measurements for surgery purposes. Additionally, for voice therapy patients, it provides a means to monitor progress between sessions.

“It is an excellent diagnostic tool,” said Ms. Sims, who cited additional benefits as the ability to save and track programs over time, measure a voice handicap, and assess how high and how low a person’s range is and if that range is appropriate for the individual’s age and gender.

Additionally, using OperaVOX the therapist can administer the Voice Handicap Index, a rating survey that assesses how an individual’s voice disorder may affect the person functionally, emotionally and physically. Anyone interested in learning more about how OperaVOX can assist in voice therapy should contact the Speech-Language Pathology Center (SLP Center) at 781-792-2700.
