MELBOURNE, Fla. - Oct. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Florida author Jaimie M. Engle loves writing and loves coaching young writers. She has been writing fantasy since she was seven years old and loves inspiring young writers.

Engle published her debut novel, Clifton Chase and the Arrow of Light, September 15th, 2013. It is a historical, middle-grade fantasy novel that takes place during the time of King Richard III, for ages 8-12 and the young at heart.

Children will learn about history while discovering an exciting tale that not only includes ancient kings and princes, but has dragons, dwarfs, and talking mermaids too. “It’s truly awesome for these students who have watched the mom of one of their classmates take her dream to publish a book and turn it in to something tangible they can hold in their hands,” says Engle who works side by side with Suntree Elementary students.

Engle's novel was inspired from the famous oil painting by Philip James de Loutherbourg, in which he depicts the Battle of Bosworth Field. Fought on August 2nd, 1485, King Richard III was defeated, and the War of the Roses officially ended. Engle researched the battle and discovered the fates of the king’s nephews, Edward V and Richard Plantagenet, who were locked in the Tower of London and never seen again. “I wanted to write a book that taught historical facts hidden beneath a fun story,” says Engle. “It’s an incredible feeling to know that I am a role model to kids simply because I wrote a book.”

About the book:Clifton Chase couldn’t know the mysterious arrow would lead him to the year 1485. Two princes need his help, but why? Led by the Arrow of Light, a weapon forged from the Tree of Knowledge itself, Clifton embarks on a journey to face fire-breathing dragons, kidnapping by merpeople, and a final battle, which will end the War of the Roses and the reign of a tyrant king. Will Clifton discover his purpose on time and save the day? Or has the arrow chosen the wrong boy?

Book Reviews:

"Clifton Chase is a wonderful and exciting blend of history, fantasy, and just plain fun.” R Gish

"Instant Classic! Clifton Chase belongs on your bookshelf - young or old - right along with Tolkien and Grimm. And if you're looking for a perfect gift this season for young adults or those "grown ups" (I am one) who love to lose themselves in an engaging epic, Clifton Chase and the Arrow of Light will not fail you!" Amazon Reviewer

"My son really enjoyed this book. He is only 8, but he is an accelerated reader and it can be difficult finding books that are on his reading level and yet still have a good message. Clifton Chase and the Arrow of Light is that book. My son is already reading it for a second time, and he is hoping that there will be more Clifton books in the future." R. Cruz

"This is an amazing book! Buy it. Read it. YOU and your kids will love it. The author, Jaimie Engle, takes you on an exciting journey. This book is filled with action and adventure. Clifton and his arrow carry you through time and they encounter dragons, dwarves, and kings! This is all set in the time of King Richards England and is told with rich detail that draws you into the story. I am a homeschool mom, and this book has taken first place as the best book we have read so far on our homeschool journey! Enjoy!!!" Beth Aronson-Meggs
