LYNCHBURG, Va. - Oct. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- As autumn arrives, people in various places may notice something unusual. A procession of animals - everything from dogs and cats to hamsters and even goldfish - is led to churches for a special ceremony called the Blessing of the Animals.  Holy Cross Regional Catholic School Students will participate in this annual custom on Friday, October 3 at 2 p.m. on the front lawn of the school, weather-permitting.

“Our students really enjoy the opportunity to bring their furry and other friends in for a special blessing,” says Father Jim Gallagher, the school’s chaplain. “This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures, and it truly reinforces the family atmosphere of Holy Cross Regional Catholic School.”
