Held annually on Oct. 16, this year’s World Spine Day is themed “Straighten Up and Move” and is part of the Bone and Joint Decade’s Action Week. Individuals can help raise spine health awareness by taking a photo of their spine and sharing it via social media using #luvmyspine. Photos should be tasteful, creative and help to raise awareness for healthy spine habits. Photos may also be shared via the Spine Health Foundation Facebook page, Twitter (@SpinePros) “This is a great opportunity for our region to take part in a meaningful cause and raise awareness about an issue that affects so many individuals,” The National Institute of Health offers the following facts about spinal disorders: -Americans spend at least $50 billion each year on low back pain; -Back pain is the most common cause of job-related disability and a leading contributor to missed work; and -Back pain is the second-most common neurological ailment in the United States.
