Follow on Google News | The Miami International Piano Festival Brings Master Pianists to South Florida in 2014-2015 SeasonThe Miami International Piano Festival announces a series of new and exhilarating musical performances. Established in 1998, the Festival will again debut several of the most talented up and coming musicians.
Our concerts are presented in three series at The Aventura Arts and Cultural Center, Broward Center for the Performing Arts and The Colony Theatre and in two special free concerts for the community at Anne Kolb Nature Center. Four Classical Sundays at Five will be at the beautiful Aventura Arts & Cultural Center and performances are on four Sundays scheduled throughout the concert season. “A Tribute to Scriabin & Rachmaninoff” Our crown jewel is the annual Discovery Series. The performances are in May and are again at the historic Art Deco Colony Theatre on Miami Beach. We present four successive evenings of brilliant piano recitals by recently discovered artists and musical prodigies from around the globe. Once again, distinguished music Professor Frank Cooper is the Festival’s “Lecturer in Residence” who will provide trenchant commentary and historical context for the audience. Performers in the Four Classical Sundays at Five include acclaimedFrench pianist David Kadouch, the insightful and profound British master Nick van Bloss, the youthful, stunning Russian pianist Nikolay Khozyainov, and the astonishing Italian virtuoso Vincenzo Maltempo. Artists in the “Tribute to Scriabin & Rachmaninoff” The Discovery Series introduces our audience to four extraordinary artists: Rachel Cheung from China, Raluca Stirbat from Romania, eighteen year old piano and cello prodigy Sarina Zhang, and Russian virtuoso Leonid Egorov. We are excited to conclude the Discovery Series on May 17, 2015 with a special performance of piano transcriptions from operas and are partnering this evening with Miami’s acclaimed Vocal Studio of Manny Perez. Arias by Verdi, Puccini, Bizet &Meyerberg will be followed by piano transcriptions based on opera themes by Liszt, Busoni and the three featured pianists: Francesco Libetta, Kemal Gekic and Leonid Egorov. For 18 years the Miami International Piano Festival has assisted musicians as they develop their careers. We consistently attract a wealth of talent and offer amazing concert experiences for enthusiastic audiences. Each newly discovered artist is provided with nurturing and public exposure which has resulted in receipt of coveted awards such as the Gilmore Award (the highest recognition bestowed on any pianist). Many have signed with notable management agencies and received prestigious recording opportunities. Festival co-founder Giselle Brodsky thinks that “every program we bring to you flourishes and stems from the ideas, desires and the inspiration of the artists, and that is why we do not simply offer recitals, we offer experiences that will forever change your perception and your love and understanding of music. In an effort to re-ignite the interest in classical music and increase our audience, we have incorporated different ideas and concepts into the new events for the 2014-2015 Season.” 2015 COMPLETE SEASON 2014 - 2015 Aventura Cultural Series “Sundays at Five”, Aventura Arts and Cultural Center 3385 NE 188th Street Aventura, FL 33180 November 23, 2014 DAVID KADOUCH (France), piano Bach, Janacek, Schumann, Brahms ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ January 18, 2015: NICK VAN BLOSS (England), piano Bach, Beethoven, Schumann ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ February 22, 2015: NIKOLAY KHOZIAINOV (Russia), piano Schumann, Liszt, Ravel, Rachmaninoff ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 12, 2015:VINCENZO MALTEMPO (Italy)Czerny, Godowsky, Chopin, Schumann, Alkan 2015 MASTER SERIES Amaturo Theatre, Broward Center for the Performing Arts 201 SW 5th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.
