Sept. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- On Monday, October 6, Ben’s Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers will host its annual fundraiser for the Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) — Ben’s New York Olde Time Deli Experience — at its location in Greenvale, located at 140 Wheatley Plaza. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ben’s will offer a limitless smorgasbord of its deli delights, featuring appetizers, a carving station, a pickle and condiment bar, side dishes, beverages and desserts. There will also be raffle prizes, with ticket sales also going to benefit the INN. Those in attendance will receive a Hebrew National mini-salami at the end of the event.

This year’s honoree is Todd Silverstein, Vice President, Ben’s Restaurant Group. Mr. Silverstein, who previously served as General Manager of Ben’s Woodbury location, joined Ben’s Restaurant Group in 1991. During that time, his father managed the Greenvale location and served in that capacity until 2007. He began working as a counter person at the former Ben’s Deli Express in Huntington Station, which was located in the Walt Whitman Mall. He later worked his way up the ranks to the position of Store Manager. In addition, his wife worked for many years at Ben’s and his two children are currently Ben’s employees.

As the Director of Catering — a role in which he continues to serve — he has been instrumental in building the Ben’s brand name throughout Long Island and Queens and overseeing the popularity of Ben’s BBQ service. For the past three years, he has participated in the New York Deli Experience for the members of U.S. Congress in Washington D.C. He has also hosted tours of school children at various Ben’s locations.

Tickets are $54 each, with proceeds to benefit the INN and its soup kitchens and shelters on Long Island. The INN is a not-for-profit volunteer-based organization that addresses the issues of hunger and homelessness on Long Island by providing food, shelter, long-term housing and supportive services in a dignified and respectful manner for those who are seeking help.

Ben’s has been very active in working with The INN, as Ben’s Owner/Founder Ronnie Dragoon is a member of The INN’s Board of Directors. In addition to catering The Olde Time New York Deli Experience, Ben’s provides the food for A Day of Thanks and Giving, which is held every mid-November and raises over $10,000 each year to help support The INN’s programs.
