DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Sept. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- The Office of U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) recently issued a letter of presentation to the Hispanidad Foundation -- a community initiative of the Volusia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce -- recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), during the Opal Network Alliance premier event "ONA in Daytona!" -- America's Multicultural Conference & Expo for Women.  The event, hosted by Othal Partners, LLC, was held September 19, at the Ocean Center, in Daytona Beach, Florida.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio’s recognition letter states, in part:

Hispanic Heritage Month is the time of year where we celebrate the contributions the Hispanic community has made to the culture of America. As the son of Cuban immigrants, I know just how valuable our community’s role has been in shaping our society … “          -- U.S. Senator Marco Rubio

“The Hispanic residents in Volusia County represent an increasingly vital part of Florida’s population growth, economy, and business community,” notes Paris Pena, Volusia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.  “We are honored to receive this important recognition and to have our U.S. Senator join us in celebration of our rich heritage.”

The Opal Network Alliance is a cross-cultural sensitivity initiative designed to recognize and celebrate women of diverse cultures and backgrounds, while building alliances that enhance quality of life and strengthen communities. The recently held event featured interactive presentations on fiscal fitness, leadership, careers, health, public speaking, social media, stress management, and time management. There were also seminars delivered on domestic violence, entrepreneurship, reinvention, an empowerment luncheon, and a networking ice cream social culminating the day.

This year's event was made possible by event partners and sponsors: Othal Partners LLC, Bethune-Cookman University, Fifth Third Bank, City of Daytona Beach, Volusia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Daytona State College, WKMG Local 6, Office Depot, Vasaj Communications, and Oceanside Inn.

“We appreciate having Senator Rubio’s recognition on our event’s platform,” states Vel Johnson, Media Relations Consultant for ONA and CEO of Vasaj Communications. “In our multicultural world, it’s imperative that we become culturally competent and build relationships with people from diverse groups and backgrounds in order to have a thriving society.”
