Follow on Google News | London Adoption Agency Announce New Post-qualifying Diploma in Neuro-Physiological PsychotherapyThe new diploma from London based Adoption Agency, Family Futures, runs from the 3rd- 7th of November and synergises cutting-edge research, theory and practice.
By: Family Futures In recent years, there has been a revolutionary progression in our knowledge and understanding of how the human brain and central nervous system develop and function. It has had huge implications for how psychotherapeutic services need to be conceptualised and practiced. Family Futures have moved from a theory of mind to a theory of brain, integrating it with everything they know about attachment, trauma, development, and above all, relationships, to enhance their innovative approach to providing therapeutic services for traumatised children. The new neuro-sequential approach to assessment and treatment has been validated by C4E0 (The Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People’s Services). The new NPP post qualifying diploma synergises cutting-edge research, theory and practice to bring entrants up to date with modern practices. It is designed to enable practitioners to integrate a neuro-sequential approach into their own work with traumatised children and their families. This course builds upon Dan Hughes’ DDP and Theraplay by adding a multi-disciplinary perspective and a neuro-sequential approach to working therapeutically with traumatised children. Alan Burnell at Family Futures said this “The understanding acquired on this course is invaluable for any professional looking to improve their knowledge for working with traumatised children. Moving away from a theory of the mind to a theory of the brain means we can integrate this with our experience on attachment, trauma, development and relationships. Gaining validation from the C4EO proves that we are moving in the right direction.” This diploma consists of 3 levels. Certificates are awarded for Level 1 and Level 2: however, to become a fully accredited NPP practitioner in any field, applicants will need to satisfactorily complete all 3 levels of the course over a 2-year period. Level 3 involves sending 10 DVD’s of a session with a child/family to be assessed by a course tutor. The course will be taught by a range of expert practitioners from the following fields: Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Paediatrics, Occupational Therapy, Sensory Integration and Education.
